There’s a dark side and a beautiful future built around every new tool and technology that comes along.

I love how IBM calls their take on AI (a la their Watson platform) “augmented intelligence.” They’re pushing away from the word “artificial” because in all cases, they want Watson to operate alongside humans in various environments.

Anheiser Busch In-Bev is a Dutch company that owns amongst other things Budweiser. The most recent ad campaign on TV for Budweiser is pointing out as loudly as it can, “We brew this stuff in America!” The subtext: it’s “local” even though a Dutch company owns it and reaps the profits.

How to Write a Great Round-Up Post [0.16]

Three times today, I’ve been asked by a “blogger” to contribute to their amazing “round-up” post, where they query experts for their opinions on some topic that they feel matters to the people they try to entertain with their “writing.” In the last of these posts, I was addressed by my very secret title of {First Name}, indicating a very personal touch in how the person was seeking out help. Far fewer people read the actual survey results that others spend a lot of time gathering and tabulating.

People aren’t reading as much as they were, as it turns out. Contrast this with a recent report showing that people are watching over 1 BILLION hours of YouTube video per day.

In learning how to build my own news platform, I’ve taken a renewed interest in reading through lots and lots of blog posts every day, searching for trends and interesting perspectives different than mine. The attempt at a solution for most companies was to either outsource their content creation or to assign the task to someone internally.
