I started my stealth job search last week.

I used LinkedIn to notify recruiters that I'm looking for a new job, and so far I've talked with three recruiters on the phone.

A smartphone for only $5 per month can give your small business an affordable solution to bring your workforce together, which is what T-Mobile (NYSE:PCS) has done with the REVVL.

At only $125, the T-Mobile REVVL is a smartphone with features good enough to perform all basic communication, image capturing, conferencing, and storage functions.

Maybe because the leakers of the smartphone industry are so good at what they do, or maybe it's a testament to the hype cycle of the internet, but more and more phone companies have developed a habit of pre-announcing or "leaking" features/photos of their yet-to-be-unveiled device. Last week, LG announced yet another feature of its upcoming V30 (whose official unveiling is actually at the end of the month): the handset will have an aperture of f/1.6, the lowest ever in a smartphone.

16 Ways QR Codes are Being Used in China [0.13]

We’ve talked a lot about the rise of QR codes in Asia, but they may now finally be moving from being a “joke” to being more widely adopted in other places as well.

Some of the more obvious use cases for them include things like adding a WeChat friend in real life (IRL); subscribing to a WeChat official account (often representing media, stores, people, and others); paying a street vendor or at a convenience store; connecting to wi-fi in a shop; getting additional content from a magazine article; and learning more about styling or the brand from a clothing label.

The smartphone industry has been saturated and overcrowded for a few years now -- seemingly every other week, there's a new device, from the dozens and dozens of phone brands that exist. I've only tested the camera briefly but it is a strong improvement over previous Meizu devices, and appears to be better than the shooters on most Chinese smartphones not named Huawei.

Last year I wrote multiple pieces criticizing phones that everyone else in tech writing loved, namely the iPhone 7 Plus and Google Pixel. Huawei has been going this route for most of the last year already, positioning its phones as a high-priced premium item on par with Samsung and Apple, and it's a strategy that has payed off.

Your Customers Still Want to Talk to a Human Being [0.11]

Most businesses now communicate with their customers through multiple online channels, and invest in software to track, personalize, and optimize every step of the consumer’s digital journey. Businesses are missing out on potential revenue by burying phone numbers, making it impossible to speak to a human, or delivering a frustrating experience when consumers do connect.

Last month I wrote about this Samsung Galaxy S8 clone by a Chinese phone company named Leagoo, and while I'm still waiting to get my hands on a review unit of that device, the Shenzhen-based firm was kind enough to let me check out an early prototype unit of another device: the KIICAA Mix. And yes, like every Chinese phone released lately, the KIICAA Mix has dual 13-megapixel cameras that can simulate bokeh.
