I am not sure where it originated, but we have all heard the question/expression: “Do you want to be right – or do you want to be rich?” A question many managers have asked, and fewer reps have answered.

If the name of the game is change, so if you want to “demo” anything, demo your ability to change to make improvements and win.

An interesting little point being made about the wealth of some of those in the past, the implication of which is that Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and the like simply aren't rich enough to be considered truly wealthy by those historical standards. This is obviously a contentious point and economists have tied themselves in knots over the years trying to work out how we can compare incomes, wealth, in fact even just basic lifestyles, over centuries and millennia.

Hollywood’s stereotype of estate planning usually features assorted nieces, nephews and cousins gathered in the drawing room of a 100-year-old mansion greedily waiting to hear what an eccentric rich relative left them. And unfortunately, the average person doesn’t show the same kind of concern about estate planning that the rich do – and that’s a mistake.

The rich are getting richer; and the very rich are getting very much richer. The catch is that not all wealth managers have the technical and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the rich, and this situation is even more evident when it comes to working with the super-rich.

Of course, this is something that any passing economist could have told the Resolution Foundation--that it is the incomes of rich people which suffer most in a recession and which then recover first after one. This is also something standard, classic and well known.

Everyone knows it is hard to get rich, but it can be even harder to stay rich. Standard Charter recently made a similar move, raising its minimum from $2 million to $5 million and signaling it would begin targeting clients with investable assets in the $30 million range.

In a column from December of 2015, the Wall Street Journal’s Mary O’Grady unveiled a rather inconvenient fact that poverty warriors on the American left and right would perhaps prefer remain hidden: from 1980 to 2000, when the U.S. economy boomed, the number of Mexican arrivals into the U.S. grew from 2.2 million in 1980 to 9.4 million in 2000. O’Grady’s statistics came to mind while reading a recent New York Times column by Jared Bernstein, a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

There are protests, and calls for political action, over the plight of India's farmers at present--and the one important point we've got to get across to people is that India's farmers should be going bust because that's how economic development actually happens.

The political reaction to this we understand, of course we do.

You may have heard of Chennai recently as the trendy new Indian vacation destination, but it’s anything but new. As one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, this is where you’ll find the perfect mix of old and new, with literally hundreds of temples, churches, and mosques to take in (this area has a deep history as one of the most important religious areas in the city), and some of the best shopping in Chennai.
